BB: Hofstra Falls To Northeastern In Series Finale

Hempstead, NY - Cam Walsh, Jake Farrell and Charlie McConnell each had three hits and Dustin Hunt threw seven shutout innings as Northeastern defeated Hofstra, 4-1, Sunday at University Field. The win gave the Huskies a series victory over the Pride.

Hofstra fell to 14-32 on the season overall and 5-15 in the Colonial Athletic Association. Northeastern improved to 25-21 overall and 9-8 in league play.

The Huskies scored single runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings off of Hofstra starter Bowie Matteson (3-6). Farrell drove in the first run with a single, while Max Burt knocked in the second run with a single. McConnell put the Huskies up, 3-0, with his sixth-inning single.

Matteson allowed the three runs (two earned) on nine hits in six innings of work. He walked one and struck out six. Alec Eisenberg threw the final three innings, allowing four hits and an unearned run.

Hunt (6-3) allowed four hits in his seven innings and struck out 10 batters. Tyler Robinson came on to pitch the eighth and allowed the Pride's run as Max Dolente delivered a pinch-hit single that scored Kevin O'Connor, who led off the eighth with a double.

Mike Fitzgerald pitched the ninth to record his ninth save of the season.

Hofstra is off for final exams this week and returns to action Saturday with a neutral site doubleheader against Buffalo at Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls, New York. Game time is 12 p.m.
