Hempstead, NY - Three Hofstra softball players have been named to the 2016 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Northeast Region Team, the NFCA announced Thursday.
Earning NFCA All-Northeast Region third team honors were senior outfielder
Chloe Fitzgerald, sophomore outfielder
Brielle Pietrafesa and classmate first baseman
Nikki Michalowski.
Fitzgerald, a native of Prince Frederick, MD, earned her fourth NFCA All-Northeast Region honor after earning first team honors in 2014 and second team accolades in 2013 and 2015. The three-time All-CAA first team selection batted .318 in 44 games on the season with 30 runs scored and eight runs batted in. Fitzgerald recorded a team-high 49 hits including 13 multi-hit contests. She also had a team-high six stolen bases.
Pietrafesa, a native of Pennsauken, NJ, earned her first NFCA All-Northeast Region award in 2016. An All-CAA first team selection this season, Pietrafesa batted .307 in 46 games with 27 runs scored and 27 runs batted in. She also smacked 10 doubles and had seven homers as a sophomore. Pietrafesa had 12 multi-hit games and posted multi-run and multi-RBI games seven times.
Michalowski, a native of Philadelphia, PA, also earned her first NFCA All-Northeast Region honor in 2016. An All-CAA second team selection this season, Michalowski batted .305 in 45 games with 33 runs batted in and 24 runs scored. She also tallied nine doubles and eight home runs in 2016. Â Michalowski posted nine multi-hit games as a sophomore.
