WLAX: Hofstra Drops Road Decision At Stony Brook

Stony Brook, NY – The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 16-5 decision to #7 Stony Brook on Friday evening at LaValle Stadium.

Hofstra got a team-high two goals from graduate attacker Lindsay Scott, while sophomore attacker Drew Shapiro added two points on a goal and an assist.

Hofstra falls to 3-11 with the loss in its non-conference finale, while Stony Brook improved to 13-3 with the victory.

The game would be knotted at one early on as Scott got Hofstra on the scoreboard at the 26:42 mark off an assist from Shapiro.

Stony Brook pushed the lead to 3-1 with two straight tallies before freshman attacker Lexi Lenaghan stemmed the tide with a goal at the 22:35 mark.

The Seawolves pushed the lead to 6-2 before Hofstra closed the gap to two, 6-4, as Scott and Shapiro found the back of the net as the first half neared its end.

That would be as close as the Pride would get those as Stony Brook put together a run of 10 straight goals to earn the victory.

Sophomore midfielder Carolyn Carrera posted three draw controls in the game, while junior goalie Alexis Greene notched nine saves.

Junior attacker Morgan Knox added two assists for the Pride.

Courtney Murphy had 10 points on eight goals and two assists, while Dorrien Van Dyke added six points (5G, 1A) and three draw controls for Stony Brook.

Hofstra returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Elon at 12 p.m. The game will be the home finale for the Pride and the program will honor its four seniors prior to the game.
