Lindsay Scott had seven points on five goals and two assists for Hofstra, but Delaware rallied from a late deficit and captured a 14-13 overtime victory over the Pride women's lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon at James M. Shuart Stadium.
Hofstra led 13-10 with less than two minutes left in regulation before Delaware scored the final three goals of the second half to force overtime, where they eventually prevailed.
Freshman attacker
Lexi Lenaghan posted season-highs in points and goals for Hofstra as she had three goals and one assist for four points.
Hofstra falls to 3-10 and 1-3 in Colonial Athletic Association play with the loss, while Delaware improved to 9-6 and 1-3 in conference action.
It was a game of runs in the first half as Hofstra jumped all over Delaware to start the game with seven straight goals to start the contest. Sophomore midfielder
Drew Shapiro got the run started and it included five different goal scorers over the first 19 minutes of the contest. Scott did most of the damage for the Pride as she had two goals and two assists before halftime.
Delaware would rally back and make it a game before halftime as they tallied four goals in the final 7:44 of the opening stanza to cut the deficit to just three goals. Kara Dattellas led the Blue Hen charge with two goals and an assist during the 4-0 half-closing run.
Hofstra would push the lead back to four goals at the start of the second half as Scott scored off an assist from junior attacker
Morgan Knox at the 28:28 mark. With the Pride leading, 9-5, Delaware used a 4-1 scoring run to close the gap with 10-9 with 13:23 left in regulation following a goal from Coley Ricci.
The Pride would stay in the lead and continue to hold a 13-10 advantage following a free-position goal from Scott with 3:33 to play in the second stanza.
At that point, the Blue Hens mounted their final and most important rally of the contest as they scored the final three goals of the second half to force overtime. Shannon Hawley scored twice in the final 1:40, including the game-tying goal with 12 seconds left, to send the game to overtime knotted at 13.
Jamie Schwartz would win the game for Delaware with an unassisted goal 1:11 into the extra session.

Carolyn Carrera led all players in the game with eight draw controls, while freshman defender
Jenna Baverman posted a game and season-high five ground balls for the Pride.
Taylor Carpentier made eight saves in net for the Blue Hens and junior goalie
Alexis Greene matched her with eight saves for Hofstra.
Hawley and Ricci each had four goals for Delaware, while Dattellas posted four points on three goals and one assist.
Hofstra will travel to Stony Brook for its next game on Friday, April 22 for a 7 p.m. contest.

- Hofstra is 11-18 all-time against Delaware.
- This was Hofstra's second overtime game of the season, previously they defeated William & Mary.
- The seven points by Scott tied her season-high which she established against Fairfield on February 27, 2016.
- Lenaghan's previous high of three points occurred twice, last at James Madison on April 10.
- Baverman's previous high of three ground balls occurred at William & Mary on April 8.
