BB: Hofstra Starts Week With Back-To-Back Road Games

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Baseball Team will open a string of six consecutive road games with contests at NYIT on Tuesday and Fairfield on Wednesday. Game time at NYIT's Lorenzo Memorial Field is set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday's contest begins at 3 p.m. from fairfield's Alumni Diamond. 

Hofstra (5-18) will be looking to snap an eight game losing streak when it takes the field against the Bears. The Pride has won the last 10 meetings with NYIT and is 26-21-2 all-time in the series. 

NYIT has posted a 10-12 record so far in 2016 and is coming off a four-game series split against Fairleigh Dickinson, which was the last opponent that Hofstra defeated on March 15. Othert common opponents between Hofstra and NYIT have been Coppin State, Manhattan and Fordham. The Bears took two of three games from Coppin State, lost to Manhattan and defeated Fordham. Hofstra swept three games from Coppin State and lost to both Manhattan and Fordham. 

Freshman John Rooney will make his first career start in the contest. Ronney is 1-3 in nine appearances out of the bullpen. NYIT has not announced a starter as of yet. 

Wednesday's game at Fairfield (6-13) will be the 18th in the all-time series. The Stags hold a 9-8 advanatge and won at Hofstra last season, 6-0. Teddy Cillis will get the start for the Pride. 

Hofstra will continue its road trip with a weekend CAA series at Towson from Friday through Sunday and then wrap it up with a game at Saint Peter's on Wednesday, April 6.
