Hamden, CT – Led by a career day from junior attacker
Tiana Parrella, the Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team picked up its first win of the 2016 campaign today as they easily dispatched of Quinnipiac, 13-5, at QU Field Hockey/Lacrosse Field on Saturday afternoon.
Hofstra improved to 1-5 with the win, while Quinnipiac falls to 2-5 with the defeat.
Parrella poured in a career-best eight points on four goals and four assists in the contest to lead the Pride to the dominating effort. The goals and assists total for Parrella both tied previous career-highs, while the point total established a new career-best.
Hofstra scored the first three goals of the contest as sophomore midfielder
Drew Shapiro scored just over a minute into the game before Parrella tallied back-to-back goals to make it 3-0 with 25:23 left in the first half.
After Aileen Carey recorded the Bobcats first goal of the contest with 20:21 on the clock, Hofstra took a commanding 10-1 lead with seven straight goals spanning the two halves to make it 10-1 with 27 minutes left in regulation. Parrella had a goal and three assists during the run, while Shapiro found the back of the net twice during the run.
Quinnipiac would answer with two goals before Hofstra put the exclamation point on the win with goals from freshman attacker

Morgan Knox and Parrella to make it 13-3 with roughly 15 minutes left in the contest.
The Bobcats closed the scoring with two goals in the final five minutes but the outcome was never in doubt at that point as Hofstra earned the eight-goal victory.

Shelby Milne each had four ground balls for Hofstra, while senior midfielder
Lindsey Alfano tallied two caused turnovers, two draw controls and a ground ball in the win.
Shapiro finished with a hat trick for the Pride, her first career three-goal game. Senior midfielder
Becky Conto notched a goal and two assists for the Pride, while Lenaghan and Knox each had two goals.
Carey had three goals for Quinnipiac, while Kathleen DeVito had a pair of assists.

Alexis Greene had one of the strongest games of her career as she made a career-high 11 saves in net for the Pride.
Hofstra returns to action next Friday when it hosts Rutgers at 7 p.m.
