BB: Ohio State Rallies Past Hofstra

Columbus, OH - Chris Weiss threw seven innings of one-run ball, but Troy Kuhn's two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning capped a three-run rally as Ohio State posted a 4-2 victory Saturday night at Bill Davis Stadium.

Hofstra slipped to 5-13 with its third straight loss, while the Buckeyes improved to 10-6-1.

Hofstra led 2-0 after three innings as Teddy Cillis doubled, went to third on a sacrifice bunt and came in to score on Tom Archer's fielder's choice. Archer would steal second and move to third on an error before scoring on Steven Foster's single.

Ohio State got on the board in the fourth following a sacrifice fly from Kuhn. But Weiss limited the Buckeyes to three hits before exiting after seven innings. John Rooney (1-2) came on and allowed a walk and consecutive singles with Ronnie Dawson's base hit driving in the tying run. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Kuhn singled off the Pride's Adam Heidenfelder to drive in the go ahead runs.

Keith Kinker (2-1) picked up the win in relief following a scoreless eighth inning. Yianni Pavopoulos pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

The teams wrap up the series Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
