BB: Hofstra Falls To Ohio State In Series Opener

Columbus, OH - Ronnie Dawson and Nick Sergakis combined for seven hits and eight RBIs, and Tanner Tully allowed just two hits in six innings as Ohio State posted a 12-1 victory Friday night at Bill Davis Stadium.

The win improved Ohio State's record to 9-6-1, while Hofstra fell to 5-12.

The Buckeyes wasted no time getting on the board. After leadoff batter Troy Montgomery reached on a three-base error, Jalen Washington reached on an infield single to drive in the first run of the game. Dawson followed with a two-run home run to extend the score to 3-0. Sergakis followed with a double and later came in on a fielder's choice ground out as Ohio State led 4-0 after an inning.

Following a single run in the second, the Buckeyes added three in the third with Dawson doing the damage with a three-run triple. Ohio State tacked on three more runs in the sixth, two coming in on a triple from Sergakis.

Trailing 11-0 in the eighth, the Pride broke up the shutout as Nick Bottari reached on a fielder's choice and later came in to score on a single off the bat of Kevin O'Connor.
The Pride had five hits in the game with O'Connor, Teddy Cillis, Mat Annunziata, Brad Witkowski and David Leiderman recording singles.

Alec Eisenberg (1-4) started for the Pride and allowed eight runs (four earned) on eight hits in five innings.  

Tully (3-1) struck out three batters in his six innings of work before yielding to Kyle Michalik, who allowed three hits and a run in two innings. Connor Curlis pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the contest for the Buckeyes.

Sergakis had four hits and three RBIs, finishing a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Dawson was 3-3 with five RBIs on the day.

The series continues Saturday with a 3:05 p.m. start.
