SB: USA Today Names Hofstra A Top-Five Softball Program

Hempstead, N.Y. – The Hofstra Softball program was selected by USA Today as one of the five best colleges for Division I softball.

Hofstra was picked fourth in the country in its annual list. The rankings were done by College Factual, which factored a team's athletic success, academic achievement and "other quality measures" to comprise the rankings. Only defending national champion Florida, Michigan and UCLA were picked higher. The Pride also made the 2015 list, earning the 10th spot.

Rounding out this year's list was Baylor in the fifth spot followed by Notre Dame, Missouri, Lehigh, Northwestern and Tennessee.

Hofstra is off to an 11-8 start and is coming off a Colonial Athletic Association championship and a fourth consecutive NCAA regional appearance last season.

The article highlighted the work of second-year Head Coach Larissa Anderson, who won the league title in her first season taking over the program. Hofstra hurlers had won nine CAA Pitcher of the Year awards in a 10-season stretch when she was an assistant under Bill Edwards.

Hofstra will start an 11-game road trip on Wednesday against Fordham at 3 p.m.
