BB: Hofstra Falls To No. 4 Texas A&M In Series Finale

College Station, TX - J.B. Moss went 3-3 with a pair of RBIs and Ronnie Gideon had two hits and three RBIs to back a trio of pitchers in a 5-0 win for No. 4 Texas A&M over Hofstra Sunday afternoon at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Stadium. The Aggies scored three times in their final two at-bats to pull away from the Pride.

Hofstra fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss, while the Aggies improved to 3-0.

Gideon drove in what proved to be the only run the Aggies needed with a second inning single that plated Joel Davis. The Aggies added a second run in the fourth as Moss doubled in Davis, who had reached on a two-out single. Gideon hit a two-run homer in the seventh, while Moss added an RBI single in the eighth.

Aggies starter Tyler Ivey allowed two hits and struck out seven in six innings to earn the win. Ty Sclottmann had a scoreless inning of relief and Mark Ecker closed out the game with two scoreless frames.

Bowie Matteson (0-1) took the loss for Hofstra, allowing two runs on three hits in four innings of work. He struck out three batters and walked two.

The Pride had five hits, all singles, in the game, two each by Teddy Cillis and Steven Foster.

Hofstra returns to action Friday in the start of a four-game series against Missouri in Fort Myers, Florida.
