Hempstead, N.Y. – After opening the season with a 62-42 win over Marist at home, Hofstra Women's Basketball will take its first road trip of the season, heading east to take on local rival Stony Brook at 7 p.m. on Monday.

The Pride (1-0) got the season started on the right foot, extending its series record to 8-1 over the Red Foxes. Preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association First-Team selection junior
Ashunae Durant led the Pride with 19 points in the victory. Senior
Sydni Epps, getting her first taste of action after returning from a season-ending injury last year, posted a season-high 11 rebounds. Senior
Krystal Luciano led the team with six assists.
Hofstra was solid defensively as well, holding Marist to a 28.9 percent shooting percentage from the field and 10 percent from three-point range.
The Pride renews its rivalry with the Seawolves for the eighth time in program history on Monday, and Hofstra holds a 6-1 advantage in the all-time series. Stony Brook returns Kori Bayne-Walker at point guard this season, and she led the team with 17 points in a 57-46 season-opening loss to Iona on Friday night. Elizabeth Manner also scored in double figures, posting 13 points and adding seven rebounds. The Seawolves were predicted to finish fifth in the America East this season.
Last season, the Pride topped Stony Brook, 71-66, at home. Durant recorded a double-double, recording 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Hofstra will stay on the road, heading to Navy on Friday.
