Felicia Banda led the Hofstra Women's Cross Country team at the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Cross Country Championship at the White Clay Creek State Park Saturday morning.
Banda led Hofstra for the third time this season, posting a 6K time of 23:35 to finish 51st (42 pts.). Classmate
Mahlah Givehand posted her best 6K time of the year, placing 53rd (44 pts.) in 23:40. Freshman
Kaylee Stebbins was one second off her best 6K time of the year as she placed 65th (52 pts.) in 24:12. Graduate-student
Lily Mayko finished in 70th place (53 pts.) in 24:22 while junior
Emily McLean-Loughlin posted a time of 24:29 to finish 73rd (55 pts.). Sophomore
Marissa Cadieux completed the roster and fell just two seconds off her best time of the year, posting a time of 24:59 to finish 80th (59 pts.).
As a team, the Hofstra women finished eighth with 246 points. The College of William and Mary won its fifth consecutive CAA Women's Cross Country Championship and 22nd overall with 44 points. James Madison was second with 47 points with Elon in third place with 66 points. Northeastern was fourth with 120 points, Towson was fifth (123), Delaware was sixth (161), the College of Charleston was seventh (167) and UNCW placed ninth (277). William and Mary's Regan Rome was the individual champion in a time of 21:12, 14 seconds faster than the runner-up.
The Hofstra Women's Cross Country team will be back in action on November 11 when they compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY.
