Sophia Black had a season-high 19 digs, freshman
Laura Masciullo tallied a match-high 16 kills and freshman
Luisa Sydlik posted a double-double with 20 assists and 17 digs to lead the Hofstra Volleyball team to a three-set sweep of William & Mary on Friday evening at Kaplan Arena.
Set scores were 25-16, 25-23 and 25-23 for Hofstra. The Pride improved to 16-6 overall and 6-3 in league play with the win. William & Mary falls to 8-14 and 2-7 in Colonial Athletic Association action with the defeat.
Hofstra hit exactly .300 for the match as they got better offensively as it progressed. They would hit over .300 in both the second and third stanza, culminating in a .368 attack percentage in the final set.
The Pride was able to jump out to a quick start in the match with some strong defense in the opening set, holding the Tribe to a .098 attack percentage.
In the third and final set, William & Mary rallied back to even the score at 20 before a kill from senior
Veronika Kostova and a service ace from Masciullo pushed the advantage back to two. A kill from sophomore
Michela Rucli would end the match and give Hofstra its eighth sweep of the season.

Nanishka Perez both finished with 10 kills, while senior
Hannah Klemm led the Pride with 21 assists. Black also dished out a career-best eight assists.
Sydney Biniak had 11 kills for William & Mary, while Katie Kemp tallied 36 assists. Sara Zumbach and Gabrielle Pe had 19 and 18 digs, respectively.
Hofstra is back on the court on Sunday when it faces James Madison down in Harrisonburg, Virginia. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Notes
- Hofstra is now 23-18 all-time against William & Mary. The Pride swept the season series from the Tribe as they earned a four-set win in Hempstead earlier this season and Hofstra has now won seven straight over William & Mary.
- Black's previous season-high of 15 digs came against Siena on September 10.
- The double-double was Sydlik's third of the season.
