WXC: Hofstra Women To Run In The Princeton Invitational On Saturday

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Women's Cross Country team returns to action this Saturday, October 15 when the Pride compete in the Princeton University Invitational at the West Windsor Fields on the Princeton campus. The Princeton Invitational will kick off with the women's 6k race at 9 a.m.

Teams schedule to compete in the Princeton Invitational  with their regional rankings include: American, Binghamton, Columbia (12th in Northeast), George Washington (13th in Mid-Atlantic), Harvard (4th in Northeast), Hofstra, Iona (10th in Northeast), LaSalle, Loyola, Marist , Maryland (9th in Mid-Atlantic), Maryland Eastern Shore, McNeese State, Monmouth, NJIT, Penn (3rd in Mid-Atlantic), Princeton (6th in Mid-Atlantic), Rider, Sacred Heart, St. Joe's, Stony Brook (14th in Northeast), UMBC (15th in Mid-Atlantic), UNCG and Yale (2nd in Northeast).

The Hofstra Women swept through all three opponents last Saturday at the NJIT Highlander Challenge. Hofstra defeated Wagner, 18-39, topped NJIT, 16-45 and ran by St. Peter's, 15-50. Scored as a meet with all four Division I teams, Hofstra finished with 19 points, Wagner was second with 48 points, NJIT was third with 63 points and St. Peter's was fourth with 110 points.

Pride sophomore Mahlah Givehand, the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week, placed first in the 5K Division I meet in a season-best 18:53. Junior Emily McLean-Loughlin was second overall posting a season-best time of 18:54. Sophomore Felicia Banda placed third overall in another season-best time of 18:55 while freshman Kaylee Stebbins was fifth overall in a collegiate best time of 19:19. Graduate-student Lily Mayko placed eighth in 19:58 to wrap-up the scoring positions for the Pride.
 
Sophomore Marissa Cadieux also posted a season-best time and was 10th in a time of 19:59 and classmate Alli Bacher placed 13th in a season-best time of 20:47 to round out the Hofstra placing positions. Hofstra junior Capri Pappalardo also recorded a season-best time placing 24th in 22:38. Newcomer MacKenzie Orr was 27th in 23:00.
