WGOLF: Hofstra Places Eighth At Quinnipiac Classic

Hamden, CT - Jai Ghuman had the third-lowest score of the day at 77 (+7) and Hofstra posted the fourth-best team score of the afternoon as play concluded at the Quinnipiac Classic at the New Haven Country Club on Tuesday.

Hofstra shot a final round 325 (+45), its best round of the tournament, and moved up two spots to finish eighth in the 11-team field at 1017 (+181).

Ghuman matched her personal-best round with the 77 and moved up 23 places to finish tied for 22nd in the 63-player field. Ghuman tallied a three-round score of 252 (+42). Amanda Bigger was the Pride's next finisher, tying for 30th at 255 (+45). Bigger, who had back-to-back scores of 86 (+16) on Monday, carded an 83 (+13) in her final round.

Andrea Neilson had her best round of the event with an 81 (+11) to finish tied for 37th at 254 (+48). Neilson moved up 12 places on the final day of the Classic. Jacquie Faldetta also moved up the standings, climbing seven spots to a tie for 47th at 263 (+53) after a final round 84 (+14). Victoria Snak shot an 85 (+15) Tuesday and finished in a tie for 51st place at 264 (+54).

Kristy Beckwith of St. John's was the individual medalist at 226 (+16). Beckwith had rounds of 78-73-75 to earn her first career victory. The sophomore finished nine strokes ahead of Chelsea Sedlar and Ellen Nighbor of Sacred Heart.

The Red Storm also took the team title with a score of 946 (+106), 23 strokes ahead of second place Albany.

Hofstra returns to action October 24 and 25 at the St. John's Invitational in Ardsley, New York.

Notes:
-Ghuman's final round 77 trailed Beckwith (75), Sedlar (75) and Nighbor (76) for the lowest round of the day.

-Hofstra's 325 on Tuesday was behind St. John's (310), Albany (317), Sacred Heart (322) and Navy (322).
