WBB: Hofstra Looks To Rebound In CAA Play Sunday At Charleston

Charleston, S.C. – Hofstra will be looking for its first Colonial Athletic Association road win of the season when the Pride heads to TD Arena to face the College of Charleston on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Hofstra is coming off a close 61-60 defeat at Elon on Friday. The loss evened the Pride's CAA mark at 1-1, though Hofstra is still 10-3 overall. The victory total through the first 13 games is the most since the 2011-12 squad also started 10-3. Charleston (5-8, 0-2) is looking or its first league victory of the season.

Free live video and audio will be offered through Pride Productions via Charleston's broadcast. The game can also be heard locally on WRHU (88.7 FM). Live statistics will also be available.

Hofstra has won five of the last seven games but saw a three-game winning streak snapped as Elon converted a pair of late free throws in the final 10 seconds to turn a one-point Hofstra lead into a deficit. Sophomore forward Ashunae Durant did her part to lead the Pride in picking up her sixth double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds along with four assists. Her put-back basket gave the Pride the final-minute lead before Elon made two late free throws. Durant increased her season rebounding average to 10 per game to lead the league.

Juniors Kelly Loftus and Krystal Luciano give Hofstra multiple three-point options. Both are in the conference's top-five in three-pointers made per game. Loftus is knocking down 2.3 per contest for the third-best mark and Luciano's 2.2 average is fifth. Luciano and senior guard Darius Faulk are also both in the top-seven in assists.

Charleston is looking for its first CAA win after back-to-back road losses at Drexel and James Madison. The Cougars will be playing the first home conference game of the season and the team's first game at TD Arena since Dec. 22.

Charleston is ninth in the ten-team CAA in both scoring offense and scoring defense. But the Cougars still possess weapons, with Breanna Bolden in the league's top-five in scoring at 14.8 points-per-game.

Durant's rebounding statistics makes her the only league player to average in double figures, though Bolden is also among the league leaders at six rebounds per game and Kelsey Booth is close behind at 5.7. Jackie Luna-Castro is knocking down 47.7 percent of her field goal attempts to also settle into the conference's top-five listings.

Hofstra is 2-2 in the all-time series, which started in 2013-14 when the Cougars first joined the CAA. Charleston won both meetings in the first season, but the Pride responded by posting the season sweep in 2014-15.
