WBB: Hofstra Puts Undefeated Home Record On Line Versus Elon On Sunday

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra will look to rebound from a close Colonial Athletic Association road loss and look to remain unbeaten at home when the Pride welcomes Elon to the Mack Sports Complex Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Pride is 15-4 and 6-2 in league play following a 67-64 defeat at Drexel on Friday. Hofstra sits in second place in the CAA standings and will be looking to earn a split against an Elon squad that is 12-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

Fans can purchase tickets by visiting HofstraTickets.com, where it is now possible to print their tickets at home. In addition fans can also call (516) HOF-TIXX or visit the Hofstra Athletics Box Office in the Mack Sports Complex for more ticket information.

Pride Productions free live video and audio will also be available as well as live statistics. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can also be heard via the portal and on the WRHU mobile app and 88.7 (WRHU) locally in the Hempstead area.

Hofstra is 8-0 at home this season and will be looking to win the first nine home games to start a season in program history. The only other team to start 8-0 on its home court was the 2003-04 squad.

Hofstra and Elon will square off the second time this season following a 61-60 Phoenix victory at Elon on Jan. 8 in the series opener. Junior guard Krystal Luciano scored a team-high 17 points in that game while sophomore forward Ashunae Durant went for 10 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Junior guard Kelly Loftus contributed 12 points.

Elon's Shay Burnett scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in that contest to send the Pride to the team's first CAA loss. Burnett's 13.1 points-per-game average leads the team and is 10th in the CAA. Only Loftus' 13.9 average is more among the two teams, with Loftus entering the weekend in sixth place in the league's scoring leaderboard.

Elon is 7-1 at home this season but just 5-6 in road games. But Elon is riding a three-game winning streak following a 56-54 victory at Northeastern on Friday. Since falling to Drexel, 74-31, the Phoenix responded by beating Charleston, UNCW and the Huskies.

Junior forward Anjie White tied a season high by scoring 16 points at Drexel. The Pride utilized a fast-paced offense to out-score the Dragons on fast breaks, 11-0, and will look to sustain a similar pace against Elon. Hofstra, thanks to Durant and White leading the way on the blocks, also scored 28 points in the paint while the team knocked down eight total three-pointers to develop an inside-outside presence.

Hofstra boasts the CAA's stingiest defense in holding teams to 56.4 points per game. The Pride is also the only unit in the 10-team league to shot a collective 40 percent from the field. Elon is ranked seventh in allowing 62.7 points and is sixth in field goal percentage (37.2 percent).
