South Orange, NJ – The Hofstra Volleyball team played its second straight five-set match of the day and came away on the short end of the ledger as they fell to Notre Dame in their final match at the Seton Hall Classic in Walsh Gymnasium.

Veronika Kostova led Hofstra once again as she had 20 kills in the match. She was one of three players for the Pride in double figures as freshman outside hitter
Nanishka Perez added 14 kills and sophomore middle blocker
Leticia Valente chipped in with 13 kills and seven blocks.
The loss drops the Pride's record to 4-4 this season, while Notre Dame improved to 2-4.
In both matches today Hofstra dropped a 15-13 decision in the fifth and final set.
Set scores were 26-24, 24-26, 25-20, 14-25 and 15-13 in favor of the Fighting Irish.
Trailing two sets to one, Hofstra used a strong offensive showing in the fourth set to roll to the easy 11-point win. The Pride hit at a .265 clip in the stanza, while holding Notre Dame to a negative .050 attack percentage.
A tight fifth set saw Hofstra trail 12-9 before a quick 3-0 run knotted the score at 12 on a kill from Kostova. The match would be even at 13 before Notre Dame got consecutive kills from Sam Fry to earn the win.
Hofstra returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Long Island rival Stony Brook for a 7 p.m. match. The Pride defeated the Seawolves in straight sets last season and leads the all-time series, 4-1.

Luisa Domingues picked up 19 digs for Hofstra and junior defensive specialist
Sophia Black added 16.
NOTES- With back-to-back five-set matches, it marks the first since October 4 and 5, 2013 that Hofstra has played two straight five-set contests.
- This was the first time since September 15, 2012 that Hofstra played two five-set matches in one day.
- Hofstra is now 1-3 all-time against Notre Dame. The most recent meeting before today's match came in the 1996 NCAA Tournament.
