MSOC: Hofstra Felled By Late Goals In Loss At Dartmouth

Hanover, N.H. – Dartmouth broke a scoreless tie by scoring three goals in the final six minutes of regulation as nationally ranked Hofstra fell, 3-0, to the Big Green in a non-conference matchup on Saturday at Burnham Field.

Matt Danilack scored off a header at 84:02 to end the deadlock. Babacar Gadiaga added an insurance goal 59 seconds later and Eduvie Ikoba compiled the final goal in the 88th minute. Hofstra, ranked 18th in the latest NSCAA national poll, fell to 6-2. Dartmouth improved to 3-3-1.

Junior midfielder Joseph Holland registered five of Hofstra's 11 shots and three of the team's four attempts on net. Senior goalkeeper Patric Pray made five saves to keep the Pride tied heading into the contest's late stages.
Dartmouth goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland made four saves. The Big Green improved to 3-1 in the all-time series.

A 19-11 shot advantage helped Dartmouth sustain pressure, though no one broke through offensively until Danilack headed in Matt Geer's corner kick. Dartmouth's second goal came off a rebounded blocked shot when Gadiaga kicking in a deflected ball to the net's left-hand side.

Ikoba's second goal of the season secured the win.

Holland recorded three of Hofstra's four first-half shots. The game went into halftime in a scoreless deadlock. Dartmouth posted a 7-4 edge in total shots as Pray and counterpart Cleveland each made two saves.

Hofstra will resume Colonial Athletic Association play on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. match at Drexel. The Pride defeated then-No. 24 UNCW in the conference opener last week.
