Winston-Salem, NC – Freshman outside hitter Nanishka Perez posted a match-high 10 kills for Hofstra, but Virginia Commonwealth defeated the Pride in three sets on Friday afternoon at the Deacon Classic on the campus of Wake Forest.

Set scores were 25-16, 25-23 and 25-15 in favor of the Rams.

The loss ended a four-match win streak for Hofstra, which slips to 8-5 with the loss. VCU improved to 5-7 with the victory.

Hofstra was unable to get on track offensively in the contest as the Pride hit at a .043 clip for the match, its lowest of the season, in falling to their former conference rival.

The closest set of the match was the second stanza as it featured four tie scores and a pair of lead changes before the Rams managed to escape with a two-point victory.
