Brittain Altomare picked up the top honor of her storied career as she was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-American Third Team, it was announced today by the organization.
Full List Of IWLCA All-AmericansAltomare becomes only the eighth All-American in the history of the program and the first since Corrine Gandolfi was a third team selection in 2010.
Hofstra's other All-Americans include Stephanie Clarke (third team in 1996 and second team in 1997), Kathleen McPike (third team in 2001), Kathleen Mikowski (third team in 2001 and 2003), Bridget Eder (second team in 2004 and first team in 2005), Becky Thorn (third team in 2005), Kimberly Hillier (second team in 2006 and third team in 2007) and Gandolfi (third team in 2009 and 2010).
The IWLCA has honored 48 student-athletes in Division I with a selection on the All-America teams for 2015. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge in King Prussia, Pennsylvania.
Altomare posted 81 points on 39 goals and 42 assists in 2015, while also tallying 93 draw controls and 10 ground balls. The point, assist and draw control totals are all new single season program records. For her career, Altomare finished with 247 points, 129 assists, 118 goals and 200 draw controls. She holds the program's all-time record in points, assists and draw controls, while ranking seventh all-time in goals.
She was named the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and was an All-CAA First Team selection as well. In addition, she was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team last week.
Hofstra finished the 2015 season with an 11-6 record and captured the regular season CAA title. Head Coach
