BB: Hofstra Drops 12-4 Decision At Army

West Point, NY - Garrison Franklin limited Hofstra to one run on three hits over five innings and Jacob Page and Alex Dickerson each drove in three runs as Army defeated Hofstra, 12-4, Wednesday afternoon at Doubleday Field.

Army, which was playing its home opener, improved to 15-14 on the season. Hofstra fell to 10-17 on the year.

The Black Knights scored a run in the first and then added four in the third to go up 5-0. Ben Smith knocked in the first run with a sacrifice fly, while three different players drove in runs in the third. Pride starter Patrick Bryant (0-1) gave up all five runs (four earned) on six hits in three innings of work.

Hofstra got on the board in the fifth as Eric Ferguson poked a leadoff home run just inside the left field foul pole. The Pride would fall behind by a 12-1 score before scoring three times in the ninth. Brett Johnson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Brian MacDonald had a two-run double.

Franklin improved to 1-0 on the season for Army. Jacob Page and Ryan Levenhagen each had three hits for Army.

Brad Witkowski and MacDonald both had two hits for the Pride.

Hofstra returns to action Friday when it hosts Towson in the start of a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series.
