BB: Hofstra Snaps Skid With 7-3 Win At NYIT

Old Westbury, NY - Adam Seibert went five innings to win his first career start and Brian MacDonald went 3-4 with two RBIs as Hofstra snapped a four-game losing streak with a 7-3 victory Tuesday afternoon at Lorenzo Field.

Hofstra improved to 10-16 on the season with the win. NYIT, which lost for the fourth consecutive time, slipped to 4-12. The win over the Bears was Hofstra's ninth straight in the series.

The Pride got on the board in the second as MacDonald drove in Eric Ferguson with a single to right. In the fourth Hofstra loaded the bases and got sacrifice flies from Ferguson and Ryan Donovan before MacDonald drove in the third run of the inning with another single.

Seibert (1-0) ran into a little trouble in the bottom of the fourth as he gave up a leadoff single to Josh Canabal and then a two-run home run to Nick Sebastian. But the freshman settled in and retired the next three batters to get out of the inning.

Hofstra added some more breathing room with a three-run sixth as Donovan led off with a walk and went to third on a double by MacDonald. An infield single from Leiderman drove in Donovan and then MacDonald scored on the back end of a double steal. After Leiderman stole third, Brad Witkowski came through with a RBI single to centerfield to close out the Pride scoring.

The Bears got a run in the eighth off of Nick Kozlowski on a Louis Mele single that scored Canabal, who had doubled.

Seibert allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts in his first collegiate start. Chris Bonk pitched two scoreless innings, while Kozlowski and Chris Weiss each pitched an inning.

Dalton Rouleau and Chris Hardardt each had two hits on the day for the Pride. Hofstra also stole seven bases in the game with Leiderman, Rouleau and Brett Johnson logging two each.

James Bulva (0-1) took the loss for NYIT, allowing four runs (one earned) on eight hits in five innings.

The Pride is back in action Wednesday at Army in a game that was just added to the schedule today. Game time at Doubleday Field is 3:30 p.m.
