MGOLF: Hofstra Places Seventh At Lafayette Invitational

Hellertown, PA - The Hofstra University Men's Golf Team finished seventh overall at the 2015 Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational this afternoon at Silver Creek Country Club.

The Pride shot a two-day 604 (+36) to finish seventh in the 14-team field. Saint Peter's won the event with a team score of 591 (+23). Lehigh was second at 592 (+24), while Central Connecticut was third at 594 (+26).

David Won was Hofstra's top finisher, tying for 22nd place in the 82-player field. Won shot rounds of 74 (+3) and 76 (+5) to finish with a 150 (+8). Brandon Shin and Sean Cavanaugh tied for 25th at 151 (+9). Shin had rounds of 79 (+8) and 72 (+1), while Cavanaugh posted scores of 75 (+4) and 76 (+5).

David Mecca tied for 49th place with a 156 (+14) following rounds of 79 (+8) and 77 (+6), while Johnson Ko rounded out the Pride's team entry in a tie for 65th at 160 (+18). Ko shot rounds of 87 (+16) and 73 (+2). Jonathan Farber played the tournament as an individual entrant and tied for 67th at 162 (+20) following consecutive scores of 81 (+10).

Central Connecticut's Matt Hills was the individual medalist with a score of 143 (+1). He won by two strokes over Eric Edmunds of Saint Peter's and Harley Abrams of Lehigh. 

Hofstra returns to action next Tuesday at Saint Peter's.
