MGOLF: Hofstra Ninth After Two Rounds Of CAA Championship

Southport, NC - Defending champion College of Charleston holds a 12-stroke lead after the second round of play at the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Golf Championship at St. James Plantation. Individually, Cougars junior John Jonas remains in the lead, standing at two-under after 36 holes.
 
Jonas shot an even 72 on the Founders Club course on Saturday and has a two-day total of 142 (70-72). UNCW's Thomas Eldridge is currently in second place with a one-under 143 (71-72) while CofC's Josh Lorenzetti is in third place with a one-over 145 (71-74).
 
Elon's Jonathan DiIanni and Delaware's Jack Gianniny had the best rounds of the day, each firing a three-under 69. DiIanni had seven birdies while Gianniny had two birdies and an eagle on the fourth hole. Drexel's Chris Crawford finished the day with a two-under 70 after tallying four birdies and an eagle on the 6th hole.
 
College of Charleston shot a collective 293 (+5) for the second consecutive on the day for a two-round score of 586. James Madison is in second place with an eight-over 598 (302-396) while UNCW is one stroke behind with a 10-over 599 (301-298).
 
William & Mary, Elon, and Delaware are in a three-way tie for fourth place with a two-round total of 602 (+26). The Tribe shot 298 (+10) on Saturday while Elon shot 290 (+2) and Delaware posted a 296 (+8). Drexel is in seventh place with a two-day score of 609 (+33) followed by Towson with a 617 (+41), and Hofstra with a 645 (+69).
 
David Won leads Hofstra with a 158 (82-76, +14) and is tied for 32nd place. Sean Cavanaugh is tied for 35th at 159 (86-73, +15). Cavanaugh's 13-stroke improvement from round one to two was a team-best. Johnson Ko cut 12 strokes off his first round score and is tied for 42nd at 162 (87-75, +18). David Mecca is 44th at 166 (89-77, +22) after shaving 12 strokes off his first round score. Brandon Shin is 45th at 168 (89-79, +24) and cut 10 strokes off his opening round.  
 
The final round begins on Sunday at 8 a.m. on split tees. The top six teams will begin at the first tee while the bottom three teams will begin at hole 10. Three-hole live scoring will be available via GolfStat.com and for complete information and updates visit CAA Men's Golf Championship Central.
