BB: Hofstra Edged By Northeastern

Brookline, MA - Brett Johnson went 2-4 with his team-best sixth home run and Alec Eisenberg allowed two earned runs in six innings, but Northeastern was able to come away with a 3-2 win over Hofstra Saturday at Friedman Diamond.

The win clinched the series for Northeastern (19-22, 9-5 CAA) heading into Sunday's finale. Hofstra fell to 15-24 overall and 3-14 in the CAA.

Cam Hanley drove in all three of Northeastern's runs with a two-run triple in the third that put the Huskies up, 2-1, and an RBI double in the fifth that extended the lead to 3-1.

Brad Witkowski's sacrifice fly in the first put Hofstra up, 1-0, before the Huskies took the lead in the third. Johnson brought the Pride within one with a solo home run in the seventh,  but Aaron Civale shut the door on the Pride over the final 2 1/3 innings to pick up his sixth save.

Dustin Hunt (5-3) allowed two runs on four hits over 6 2/3 innings to earn the win. Eisenberg (3-4) allowed eight hits over six innings and struck out a career-high seven batters. Mat Annunziata, Steven Foster and David Leiderman each had one hit for the Pride.

In addition to Hanley, Mason Koppens added two hits for Northeastern.

The teams conclude the series Sunday at Noon.
