Southport, NC - Defending champion College of Charleston holds an eight stroke lead after the first round of play at the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association Men's Golf Championship at St. James Plantation. Individually, the Cougars John Jonas fought through a steady wind to shoot a two-under 70 on the par-72 Founders Club course.

College of Charleston shot a collective 293 (+5) on the day while UNCW stands in second place with a 301 (+13). James Madison is one stroke behind with a 302 (+14) while William & Mary is fourth with a 304 (+16). Delaware is fifth with a 306 (+18). Towson is five shots back in sixth place with a 311. Close behind is Elon (312) and Drexel (313) while Hofstra rounds out the nine team field at 344.

Jonas, a junior, led teammate Josh Lorenzetti and UNCW's Thomas Eldridge by a stroke. Delaware's Blaine Lafferty and William &Mary's Austin Morrison shot an even 72 while the Blue Hens' Kyle Martin carded 73 to stand in sixth place. James Madison's Jon Weiss was seventh with a 74. Rounding out the top-ten were Towson's Jimmy Grem, UNCW's David Kostyal, and JMU's Trey Smith who each registered a 75 (+3).

David Won leads the Pride with an 82 (+10) and is tied for 35th in the 45 player field.
Sean Cavanaugh shot an 86 (+14) and is tied for 40th place.
Johnson Ko carded an 87 (+15) and is in 43rd place, while
David Mecca and
Brandon Shin are tied for 44th at 89 (+17).Â
