Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Pride Baseball team, fresh off a three-game conference series against William & Mary, hosts Massachusetts-Lowell Monday and travels to Fordham on Tuesday to complete a five games in five days stretch.
The Pride (3-8) dropped two of three to the Tribe. Hofstra posted a 6-4 win in game one of a doubleheader Friday behind the strong pitching of
Nick Kozlowski and
Bowie Matteson. Kozlowski allowed three runs and three hits over six innings, while Matteson earned the three-inning save, allowing two hits and one unearned run with five strikeouts. The Tribe took game two, 11-1, and then outslugged the Pride, 21-12, in the finale on Sunday.
Massachusetts-Lowell (3-6) split a doubleheader Sunday at Fairleigh Dickinson, posting a 6-4 victory before a 5-1 loss. The River Hawks and Pride have met twice before, splitting a doubleheader at Hofstra to close out the 2014 season. In Hofstra's 18-11 win,
Ryan Donovan knocked in six runs and
Brad Witkowski drove in three. Â
Hofstra's road game at Fordham was originally slated for Wednesday, but was just moved to Tuesday. The game will be part of a doubleheader for the Rams, who play the River Hawks prior to taking on the Pride. Â The Rams are currently 4-12 on the season. The teams met last season at Hofstra with the Pride taking an 11-4 victory behind a grand slam home run from
Brian MacDonald and five innings of scoreless relief from
Graham Tebbit.
The Pride hit the road this weekend, traveling to Delaware for a three-game CAA series against the Fightin' Blue Hens.Â
