VB: Hofstra Sweeps Delaware In Home Finale

Hempstead, NY – Senior Corrina Delgadillo tied her career-high with 27 digs and fellow senior Kaitlyn Krause tied her career-high with eight kills to lead the Hofstra Volleyball team to a sweep of Delaware on Monday evening at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.

The match was the home finale for Hofstra, which improved to 19-10 overall and 10-4 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Delaware fell to 12-15 and 4-10 in the league.

Set scores were 25-19, 25-22 and 25-23 in favor of Hofstra, which has won four of its last five matches.

Hofstra held Delaware to nearly a zero hitting percentage in the first two sets to jump out to the lead. Neither team was able to pull away in the final set until Krause broke a 21-all tie with a kill and pushed Hofstra into a set-closing 4-2 run to capture the match.

Junior Veronika Kostova led Hofstra with 13 kills, while also adding four digs and two blocks. Sophomore Leticia Valente chipped in with 12 kills, five digs and three blocks. Freshman Nanishka Perez had 17 digs, while freshman Michela Rucli notched nine kills and four blocks.
