VB: Hofstra Earns Share Of CAA Regular Season Title With Win

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Volleyball team completed another stellar regular season as the Pride defeated William & Mary in four sets to earn a share of the regular season Colonial Athletic Association title. 

It marks Hofstra's first regular season CAA title since the 2006 season. 

Set scores were 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-20 in favor of Hofstra, which improved to 21-10 overall and 12-4 in CAA play. William & Mary is 10-19 and 4-12 in conference action. 

Four teams tied for the top spot in the CAA standings as Towson, James Madison, UNCW and Hofstra all finished with 12-4 records. 

Junior Veronika Kostova posted a match-high 23 kills to lead the way for the Pride, which also got 61 assists from junior Hannah Klemm. Senior Corrina Delgadillo and freshman Luisa Domingues each posted 17 digs in the contest. 

With the match tied at one set each, Hofstra took control in the third stanza as the Pride hit at a .389 clip to push their advantage to two sets to one. Hofstra would then end the match in the fourth set, winning by five points, as they once again hit over .300.

Freshman Nanishka Perez was also in double figures with 18 kills, while Michela Rucli added 12 kills. Perez chipped in with nine digs and Rucli had five blocks to lead the team. 

Heather Pippus had 12 kills and 11 digs for William & Mary, while Carolyn Albright added 10 kills and 10 blocks. 

Hofstra will be back in action next weekend at the CAA Championship. The Pride will be the fourth seed and face fifth-seeded Charleston. More information about the tournament, which will be hosted by James Madison, will be forthcoming. 

NOTES
- Hofstra is now 21-18 all-time against William & Mary after sweeping the season series. 
- The win was Hofstra's third straight and sixth in its last seven matches.
