Towson, MD – The Hofstra Volleyball team saw its five-match win streak come to an end as the Pride fell in three sets to Towson on Friday evening at SECU Arena.
Despite the result being decided in three sets, the two teams were only separated by a total of seven points as Towson won by set scores of 25-23, 27-25 and 25-22.
The loss drops the Pride's record to 14-7 overall and 5-1 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Towson improves to 17-2 and 4-1 in CAA action.
Hofstra placed a pair of players in double figure kills as freshman outside hitter
Nanishka Perez led the way with 15 kills, while junior outside hitter
Veronika Kostova added 13 kills. Perez added eight digs, while junior setter
Hannah Klemm posted 36 assists and a team-high tying nine digs in the match. Freshman libero
Luisa Domingues tied her for team-high honors with her nine digs.
Towson hit nearly .300 in the match as they started it with a .387 hitting percentage in the first set, while holding Hofstra to a .185 attack percentage in the opening stanza.
Hofstra would steadily improve as the match progressed, including hitting. 294 in the final set, but was unable to capture a set in the match, despite a pair of set points in the second stanza.
Freshman middle blocker
Michela Rucli posted a team-high four blocks in the contest.
Towson was led by Haley Pa'akaula's 11 kills. Jessica Lewis added 10 kills, while Anna Holehouse picked up a match-high 13 digs for the Tigers. Aimee Schubert had 20 assists and six digs for Towson.
Hofstra is back in action on Sunday when it travels to Harrisonburg, Virginia to face James Madison at 1 p.m.
NOTES- Hofstra is now 40-13 all-time against Towson.

- The loss marked Hofstra's first three-set defeat in CAA play since October 18 of last season.
