MGOLF: Hofstra Takes Second At Tuxedo Autumn Invitational

Tuxedo Junction, NY – Brandon Shin shot a 74 to lead the Hofstra Men's Golf Team to a final round 305 and a second-place finish at the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational, hosted by Columbia University at the Tuxedo Club Saturday.

The Pride, which posted the third-best, third-round score on Saturday, finished with a final team score of 913, just eight strokes behind team champion Columbia with a 905. Columbia and Central Connecticut State, which placed fourth overall, each tallied a 301 score in the final round. Lehigh University was third with a third round 309 to finish at 924 in the nine-team tournament.

Shin's 74 gave him a 223 score for the tournament, placing him in a tie for fourth place with Central Connecticut State's Monte Mullen. David Won shot a final round 75 for Hofstra to finish in eighth place with a 225 score. David Mecca shot a 78 for the Pride on Saturday to place 16th with a 230 score while Sean Cavanaugh posted his best round of the tournament with a 77 to place 24th with a 236. Luke Smith equaled his first round score with an 81 to place 46th with a 255.

Columbia's Brandon Jowers shot a final round 76 to finish with a 218 and capture medalist honors. Lafayette's Jared Mactas placed second with a 219 score and Lehigh's Harley Abrams was third with a 221 tournament score.

Hofstra returns to action on Sunday and Monday, October 5-6 at the Binghamton Invitational in upstate New York.
