MGOLF: Hofstra, Shin Fifth After Two Rounds At Rutgers

Piscataway, NJ - Senior Brandon Shin shot a two-round 139 (-3) and is in fifth place, while the Pride is also in fifth place as a team after two rounds of the Rutgers Invitational Friday afternoon.

Shin had rounds of 71 (E) and 68 (-3) at the par 71 Rutgers Golf Course and is five strokes off the lead. The Pride shot team scores of 291 (+7) and 288 (+4) to total a 579 (+11). Hofstra is eight strokes off the team lead in the 18-team field.

Senior David Mecca shot rounds of 75 (+4) and 69 (-2) and is tied for 12th in the 96-player field at 144 (+2). Sophomore David Won is tied for 24th at 146 (+4) after rounds of 70 (-1) and 76 (+5). Sophomore Sean Cavanaugh shot back-to back rounds of 75 (+4) to total a 150 (+8) and is tied for 38th. Senior Jonathan Farber is in 85th place at 159 (+17) following rounds of 80 (+9) and 79 (+8).

Fairfield's Steve Burak is in the lead after two rounds at 134 (-8), one shot in front of Wagner's Anton Frondelius and Rutgers Jacob Stockl. The Scarlet Knights hold the team lead at 571 (+3), one shot ahead of Fairfield.

The Rutgers Invitational concludes Saturday with one round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
