Hempstead, NY – Senior
Eva Holtermann ran a personal-best to place 14th and lead the Hofstra Pride to a fifth-place finish in the 5K LIU Post Invitational in Brookville Saturday.
Holtermann, a native of Staten Island, NY, recorded a time of 19:30 to top her previous best time, set in the 2013 Towson Invitational, by 58 seconds. It was the first time during her Pride career that she was Hofstra's top finisher.
Junior
Becky Celorio (Scotia, NY) was Hofstra's second runner, placing 21st in 19:47 while freshman
Emily McLean (Jaffrey, NH) was the Pride's third finisher in 20:26 to place 30th. Junior
Lisa Eberwein (Coatesville, PA) placed 34th in a career-best 20:33 and freshman
Patty Romano (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) placed 73rd in 22:19, topping her previous best by 14 seconds.
Hofstra placed fifth in the 16-team field with 152 points. Fordham University won the team title with 53 points with Wagner College (61) placing second and the host Pioneers of LIU Post (69) finishing third. St. Thomas Aquinas placed fourth with 75 points.
Hofstra returns to action next Saturday, September 20 at the Brother Doyle-Iona Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The women's meet begins at 9:30 a.m.
