MGOLF: Hofstra Places 12th At Doc Gimmler

Brandon Shin shot a team-best 69 (-1) during Saturday's final round
Farmingdale, NY - Hofstra shot its best round of the tournament, a 284 (+4),  to move up one spot and finish 12th at The Doc Gimmler hosted by St. John's at the Bethpage Red Course Saturday afternoon.

The Pride finished with a three-round score of 871 (+31), leapfrogging Central Connecticut State. The Pride finished 48 strokes behind team champion Yale, which posted a score of 823 (-17).

David Mecca was Hofstra's top finisher, placing 23rd in the 75-player field. Mecca shot a final round 70 (E) and posted a three-round 211 (+1). Brandon Shin shot a team-best 69 (-1) Saturday and tied for 35th at 215 (+5). David Won carded a 72 (+2) in his final round and tied for 53rd at 220 (+10). Sean Cavanaugh tied for 66th in his collegiate debut for the Pride, posting a total score of 226 (+16) after tallying 74 (+4) Saturday. Jonathan Farber completed the Hofstra contingent with a 227 (+17). Farber shot 73 (+3) during his final round.

Matt Oshrine of Loyola (MD), who led wire-to-wire, was the individual medalist at 194 (-16). Oshrine shot a 65 (-5) Saturday and won by six strokes over Kai Rastetter of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Hofstra is back in action next weekend at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, New Jersey.
