Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Head Cross Country Coach Pete Alfano today announced that he has signed three scholastic student-athletes to national letters of intent to attend the University this fall.
Caroline Knous, a native of Franklin, Massachusetts and a senior at Franklin High School,
Kristen Politi, a native of Wantagh, New York and a senior at MacArthur High School, and
Megan Tidey, a native of Forest Hill, Maryland and a senior at North Harford High School in Pylesville, Maryland will be joining the Pride in August.
Knous is a three-sport athlete at Franklin High School, competing in volleyball and basketball as well as the three running seasons. As a senior, she was named to the all-league cross country team and was twice named the Outstanding Performer during the 2013 season. Knous was also named to the all-league indoor track team as well.
As a junior, Knous was an all-league selection and named the Panther's Most Valuable Runner and Rookie of the Year and earned Franklin High School's Cross Country Coaches Award. Knous, who earned National Laureate honors in the national French exam in 2011, is a member of the National Honor Society and is the president of the Tri-M Music National Honor Society.
Politi is also a three-sport athlete at MacArthur High School, competing in four years of basketball and lacrosse as well as all three running seasons. In 2013, she earned all-division honors while serving as team captain of the Generals. Politi also earned all-conference honors during the indoor track season and served as team captain for the basketball squad in 2013-14.
Politi has been a member of MacArthur's 2012 cross country conference championship team, conference title teams in basketball and lacrosse in 2013, and indoor track conference championships in 2013 and 2014. Politi, who aspires to a career as a teacher and coach, is a four-year member of the National Honor Society and an AP Scholar.
Tidey played basketball for two seasons as well as competing in all three running seasons at North Harford High School. She earned Harford's Runner of the Month honors in cross country as well as Indoor Track Runner of the Year honors in several events in 2013-14.
Tidey, who aspires to a career in physical therapy, is a four-year recipient of the Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association's Minds in Motion Scholarship and a four-year Academic Honor Roll member.
