Hofstra dominated Delaware in the opening set, never letting the visitors get within shouting distance before pulling away for the 12-point victory. With the set tied at four, Hofstra used a 9-1 scoring run to take a commanding 13-5 lead en route to the first set win. The run was aided by strong serving from Lopes da Silva (two service aces) and four kills from Wills.
The Pride continued its strong play as Hofstra took a 2-0 lead in the match with a seven-point win in the second stanza. Hofstra was clicking on offense in the second set, knocking down 13 kills on 31 attempts with just one error, to take the 2-0 lead. Through two sets Hofstra would have only three errors in the entire match for a .407 attack percentage heading into the third stanza.
Delaware would earn a narrow victory in the third set to send the match to a fourth set. The stanza was tied at 18 after a kill from sophomore middle blocker
Veronika Kostova before the Blue Hens scored three straight points to open up a 21-18 advantage as they would earn their first set win of the contest.
The fourth set was knotted at 18 until the Pride scored three straight points to open up a 21-18 lead late in the stanza. Delaware battled back to get to within 23-22, but a kill from Wills and a Delaware error ended the match and sent the Pride to their 16th win of the season. Wills was exceptional in the fourth set with those seven kills on 12 attempts.
