Hempstead, N.Y. –Senior Maid Memic netted his third game-winning goal of the season and freshman Meshack Eshun Addy scored his first career goal to lift Hofstra to a 3-0 win over William & Mary in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup on Saturday night.
Junior goalkeeper Patric Pray stopped both on-target shots he faced for his fourth straight individual shutout. The Pride shut out an opponent for a fifth straight game, matching a feat last reached by the program in 2005, as Hofstra improved to 7-3-2 and 2-0 in CAA play. W&M fell to 4-8-1 and 1-2-1 against the league.
Freshman Danny Elliott put an exclamation point on the night with a blistering shot in the 64th minute that accounted for Hofstra's third goal. It was Elliott's second scoring strike of the season.
Hofstra extended its scoreless streak to 473:06 and is 9-2 at home since 2013. The Pride snapped an eight-game winless streak in the series against the Tribe. Before Saturday night, Hofstra last defeated W&M in 2006 at home.
Eshun Addy wasn't the only Hofstra player to register his first career point. Fellow freshman Pablo Casado registered his first-ever assist when he set up Memic for the game-opening goal in the 38th minute. Casado set up Memic, who beat W&M starting goalkeeper Bennett Jones to the top-right corner for his team-leading fifth goal.
That would be enough support for Pray, who picked up his 10th career shutout and his fifth of the season. Pray, who won the CAA's Player of the Week award last week as well as the ECAC Division I Defensive Player of the Week award, preserved his shutout bid with a close-range save on Aaron Baldwin's 81st-minute shot.
Eshun Addy finished on a crisp Rory Murphy centering pass for his first career goal in the 59th minute. Murphy's cross from the left side went directly to Eshun Addy, who buried the chance into the back of the net.
Memic recorded a three-point night thanks to a highlight-worthy goal from Elliott. From nearly 30 yards away, Elliott unleashed a laser that beat Jones high.
Junior defender Marius Flateboe, who did not play the last two games, played a key reserve roll and supported a back line that put in another stellar effort. Murphy, senior Daniel Grundei, freshman Jon Fraser and sophomore Harri Hawkins again played well in holding W&M to just two first-half shots. Freshman midfielder Mani Walcott was also a factor on both ends. Murphy, Eshun Addy and Memic all tallied two shots.
Hofstra will resume CAA action with a challenging Wednesday road game at Delaware. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
