MGOLF: Shin, Mecca Lead Pride At Lafayette Invitational

Easton, PA - Brandon Shin placed third and David Mecca tied for fourth to lead the Pride men's golf team to a fifth-place tie at the Lafayette Invitational Monday afternoon.

Hofstra recorded a team score of 610 (+34) to tie with Army. Lehigh won the team championship with a 597(+21).

Shin, who was tied for first after round one at 72 (E), shot a 73 (+1) during his final round to slip to third place at 145 (+1). Mecca was tied for fourth after his first round and while he he cut two strokes off his Sunday round of 74 (+2), shooting an even par 72,he did not move up the leaderboard. He finished with a two-round 146 (+2).

Jake Winn tied for 33rd place in the 106-player field with his second 78 (+6) of the event to finish at 156 (+12). Jonathan Farber shot a final round 80 (+8), cutting seven strokes off his first round score, to tie for 86th place with a 167 (+23). Luke Smith rounded out the Hofstra entry with a 168 (+24) following rounds of 83 (+11) and 85 (+13). Smith finished in a tie for 92nd place.

Cgreg MacPherson was entered as an individual entrant and tied for 82nd at 166 (+22) following rounds of 84 (+12) and 82 (+10).

Drexel's Christopher Crawford claimed individual medalist honors at 143 (-1) after rounds of 72 (E) and 71 (-1).

Hofstra is back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational.
