WTEN: Hofstra Extends Win Streak To Three Matches

Fairfax, VA - The Hofstra Women's Tennis team won their third match in a row with a 6-1 decision over host George Mason Saturday afternoon. Hofstra won five of six singles contests and two of three doubles matches to take the point there as well.

The doubles team of Sarah Bowen and Sonia Tsay posted a 9-7 win over Maya Hicks and Kiersten Pappas at first doubles. George Mason won at second doubles, with Ashley Delaney and Brittany Pilkington taking an 8-5 win over the Pride's Malissa Gilanchi and Bianca Derrick. But Paige Polizois and Louise Lopez won by an 8-5 score over Ekaterina Desiatnikova and Erdenseuren Erdenebat at third doubles.

Bowen, Tsay, Gilanchi, Lopez and Polizois would all post wins in their respective singles matches with Bowen defeating Pilkington, 6-2 and 6-4, at first singles. Tsay won in straight sets at second singles over Hicks, 6-3 and 6-2. Gilanchi needed three sets to win at the third flight over Pappas, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5. Lopez defeated Delaney at fourth singles, 7-6 and 6-3.

The Patriots earned their first win at fifth singles as Erdenebat downed Derrick, 6-3 and 6-1. But Polizois picked up a win over Desiatnikova at sixth singles, 6-2 and 6-2.

Hofstra improved to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association, while George Mason is 7-12 and 0-2 in league play.

Hofstra is back in action Sunday at Delaware.
