Fairfax, Va. - Hofstra continued its hot streak with a third
consecutive sweep as the Pride defeated George Mason in three sets in a
Colonial Athletic Association matchup on Friday night at RAC Gym.
Hofstra extended its winning streak to three and improved to
17-13 overall and 5-6 in CAA play. Mason dropped to 5-19 and 3-8. Kelsie Wills registered a match-high 16 kills
and Sara Campolina added nine kills. The duo each posted a .444
hitting percentage.
The Pride took the first set easily, clamming a 25-15 victory in which Hofstra hit at a .500 clip.
Mason, meanwhile, was held to a .296 attacking percentage
A 25-18 second-set victory saw the Patriots held to a .079
hitting percentage. The Pride forced seven Mason attack errors in the set.
In the third set, Hofstra secured the win with a 25-19
victory. The Pride has not dropped a set since Oct. 26, sweeping Georgia State
in the final home game before racking up back-to-back 3-0 road victories over
UNC Wilmington and Mason.
Catalina Charry facilitated
the action against the Patriots, tallying 27 of Hofstra's 38 total assists.
Hofstra also opened a lead with its service as Wills finished with three aces
while Charry and Corrina Delgadillo both added a pair of aces.
Hofstra will close the regular
season tomorrow at James Madison. The start time from Harrisonburg, Va. is set
for 7 p.m.
