10/7/2011 10:02:00 PM

Towson, MD - Courtney McKee scored two first half goals and Kaitlyn Axenfeld scored what proved to be the decisive goal in Towson's 3-2 win over the Pride Friday afternoon in a Colonial Athletic Association match.

Hofstra (6-5, 2-3 CAA) got on the board first as freshman forward Sam Scolarici scored her second of the year at the 3:38 mark with a blast from 19-yards out on the left side. But the Tigers (6-7, 1-4 CAA) tied the score at the 8:36 mark when McKee one-timed a cross from Cheyenne Skidmore past Hofstra keeper Emily Morphitis. The two teamed up for the go-ahead goal at the 10:19 mark, as McKee once again one-timed a crossing pass from Skidmore by Morphitis for a 2-1 Towson lead.

Towson went ahead, 3-1, at the 52:24 mark as Axenfeld netted her first goal of the season from Skidmore and Emily Barnes. The Pride would draw closer at 78:04 as senior Laura Greene scored her team-high 12th goal of the season from classmate Courtney Breen. The Pride tried to put pressure on Towson in the final 11 minutes and got off three shots. But Tiger keeper Jocelyn Papciak made two key saves down the stretch to preserve the Towson win.

Papciak finished with eight saves on the day as Hofstra got 14 shots off in the contest with 10 of them on goal. Morphitis, who was making her first start in three games, made just one save.

Hofstra returns to action n Sunday when they face George Mason in Fairfax, Virginia at 2 p.m.
