Hempstead, NY - Junior midfielder Tiffany Yovino (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) was one of 45 players named to the 2009 Hermann Trophy Watch List, it was announced today.

The Hermann Trophy is given to the top Division I men's and women's soccer player at the end of each season. The award is selected through voting by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). A list of 15 semifinalists will be selected in November, and three finalists will be chosen in December. The finalists will be invited to the annual awards dinner in January at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Yovino was a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association and first-team NSCAA All-Northeast Region selection last year, when she tied for team-high honors with 14 points (five goals, four assists). She scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over William & Mary in the CAA semifinals last year, and added a goal in a game against nationally-ranked Penn State.

As a freshman, Yovino played defensive midfield and earned second-team All-CAA and all-region honors while helping Hofstra to a school-record 18 wins and a spot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She was named to the 2007 CAA All-Tournament team and was a freshman All-America selection by Soccer Buzz Magazine (second team).

Yovino and the Hofstra Women's Soccer team open the 2009 season in just over two weeks, when they travel to face Richmond on Friday, August 28 and Virginia on Sunday, August 30.
