Hofstra will be led this season by senior center Jess Fuller, who garnered second team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors in 2008-09 after averaging 11.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Also returning for the Pride will be sophomore forward and reigning CAA Rookie of the Year Joelle Connelly, senior guard Sam Brigham and sophomore guard Nicole Capruso. Connelly averaged 9.1 points and 6.2 rebounds, while Brigham and Capurso chipped in with 8.5 points and 10.3 points per game last season. Hofstra opens the 2009-10 season on November 16 when they host Buffalo in the Mack Sports Complex at 7 p.m.
Shifflet, who is entering his fourth season at Hofstra, will be looking for his fourth CAA title and the program's 10th consecutive conference crown in 2010. He returns 15 wrestlers, including seven starters, from last year's 10-6 squad. The Pride will have six of their eight NCAA qualifiers returning from 2009. Leading the Pride is 157-pound, senior Jonny Bonilla-Bowman (24-9), 174-pound junior Ryan Patrovich (22-10) and four sophomores in 125-pounder Steve Bonanno (29-15), 149-pounder Justin Accordino (25-13), 165-pounder P.J. Gillespie (21-15) and 184-pounder Ben Clymer (21-12). Senior Lou Ruggirello, who posted a 30-5 record and captured his third CAA title at 133 pounds last year, is expected to red-shirt this season. The Pride open the 2009-10 season on Sunday, November 15 when they host Buffalo in the Mack Sports Complex at 1 p.m.
