PRIDE WOMEN PLACE SECOND AT THE HOFSTRA INVITATIONAL

Sophomore Riti Dhillon finished in 15th place and classmate Michele Grieco was 23rd to lead the Pride to a second place team finish at the Hofstra Invitational at Bethpage State Park Saturday morning. Dhillon (Hopewell Junction, NY) posted a 21:13 time for 15th place and classmate Michele Grieco (Massapequa, NY) was 23rd in 21:52 to lead the Pride to a second place team finish in the Division I race. Senior Mary Sullivan (East Quogue, NY) clocked a 22:06 time to finish 29th while freshman Katie Wiking (Farmingdale, NY) was 30th in 22:24.

Hofstra senior Sarah Skiold-Hanlin (Troy, IL) was 31st in 22:29; junior LeeAna Benson (Foxboro, MA) placed 32nd in 22:32; freshman Arrial Finnerty (Lattingtown, NY) posted a 22:59 time for 43rd place; and graduate student Katie Lishansky (West Oneonta, NY) was 46th in 23:24 to round out the Pride roster.

The Pride women posted 56 team points to finish second behind St. John's University, which placed all five of its scoring runners in the first five for 15 points. New Jersey Institute of Technology was third with 72 points. Adelphi captured the Division II, III and Junior College title with 15 points. C.W. Post was second (60), St. Joseph's College (NY) was third (73), Suffolk Community College (115) placed fourth and Queens College finished fifth with 127 points. Individually, Adelphi senior Ify Anene captured the Hofstra Invitational title in a time of 19:38. St. John's freshman Sabine Schneider placed second in 19:52 while Adelphi junior Danielle Matteo was third in 20:06.
