Freshman Abby Pullen placed second and junior Amanda Edell finished in 10th place as the Hofstra Women's Cross Country team placed fourth at the University of Delaware Invitational I at White Clay State Park Saturday.
Pullen posted a 6K time of 23:20.66 to finish four seconds behind the individual champion, Britta Nelson from Towson University. The freshman's time is the 19th best 6K time in school history. Edell clocked a personal-best 6K time of 25:02. Sophomore Val Steen placed 13th in a time of 25:14, while junior Kaity McCabe was 18th in 25:46 and freshman LeeAna Benson was 21st in 25:59. Other Hofstra finishers included sophomore Catherine Brew, who finished 25th in 26:15, and classmate Melissa MacAlister, who was 49th in 27:42.
For the second consecutive week the Blue Hens of Delaware captured the team title, finishing with 51 points in the 10-team field. Towson, which placed three of the top four runners, was second with 53 points. UNC Wilmington was third with 63 points, while the Pride was fourth with 64 points.
