1/14/2005 11:00:00 AM

Freshman defender Marie Curtin (Limerick, Ireland - pictured) was named a second-team Freshman All-American by Soccer Buzz Magazine, while senior midfielder Emma Kilduff (Kildare, Ireland) and senior goalkeeper Becky Wachsberger (East Meadow, NY) joined Curtin on the Soccer Buzz All-Northeast Region team.

Kilduff was named first-team All-Northeast Region by Soccer Buzz, while Wachsberger and Curtin were each named to the second team. Curtin was also named to the Northeast Region All-Freshman team.

Curtin stepped in as a freshman and started on the Pride's central defensive unit. She tallied three goals and five assists on the season, and was named the Rookie of the Year by the Colonial Athletic Association. She was also named first-team All-CAA and first-team All-Northeast Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Curtin also played on the Irish National team, playing all 90 minutes in an exhibition game against the United States in October, which was played in Chicago.

Kilduff finished off her Hofstra career by scoring five goals and adding a team-high seven assists this fall. She scored the Pride's only goal in its 2-1 overtime loss to William & Mary in the CAA semifinals. Kilduff converted to the central midfield position this season after playing the outside midfield position her first two seasons with the Pride and was named first-team All-CAA and first-team All-Northeast by the NSCAA.

Wachsberger, meanwhile, had an 0.82 goals against average and an .825 save percentage on the season. Her 0.82 goals against average was remarkably the highest average of her three-year career. She finished third in the nation in 2003 with an 0.45 goals against average, and 15th in 2002 with an 0.69 GAA.

Hofstra ended the 2004 season with a 12-6-1 record and a 6-3 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association, tying for first place with Virginia Commonwealth.
