#11 HOFSTRA DUMPS GEORGE MASON 42-9

The 11th-ranked Hofstra Pride Wrestling team continued their winning ways Saturday with a 42-9 victory over George Mason University at the second annual Colonial Athletic Association Duals at the GMU Fieldhouse. The Pride, 3-0 in the two-day duals so far, extended its conference match undefeated streak to 31 and improved to 8-4 in duals this year including 4-0 in CAA duals.

Against George Mason, the Pride recorded four pins, two decisions and two forfeits to win easily. After the first three bouts of the match were decided by forfeit, including victories for senior Tom Noto and freshman John Manarte, the Patriots closed their 12-6 deficit with a 6-5 victory by Adrian Austin over freshman James Strouse, who was wrestling up a class from his usual 141. The next three Hofstra wrestlers would also bump up a weight class and all recorded victories. Freshman Chris Vondruska pinned Mitch Webster at 157, 15th-ranked senior Paul Siemon decisioned Sean Early 7-0 at 165, and fifth-ranked senior Ralph Everett pinned Matt Horton at 174. Senior Brad Christie pinned Jim Martin at 184 and fifth-ranked junior Chris Skretkowicz pinned Harry Zander before sophomore Dan Garay posted a 3-2 decision over Ryan Kittrick at heavyweight.
