Hava Davis

Hava Davis is in his fourth year of his second tenure as a member of the Hofstra volleyball coaching staff. Davis, who rejoined the staff in August of 2021, serves as the program’s associate head coach.

Davis and Hofstra have won at least 15 matches in each of his last three seasons on staff and qualified for a pair of CAA Championships.

During Davis’s first tenure with the Pride, from 2014 to 2017, he helped lead the team to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2014 and a trio of 20-win seasons as an assistant coach. The 2014 squad won the CAA title and he would help lay the foundation for the 2018 squad capturing another CAA title and returning to the NCAA Tournament. During his time on staff, he assisted in the development of two CAA Setter of the Year Award winners, a CAA Player of the Year, a CAA Rookie of the Year, and 13 All-CAA honorees.

Davis most recently worked at CAA rival UNCW for three years, serving as recruiting coordinator as well as training the setters and overseeing all defensive techniques. He also directed the summer camp, oversaw opponent scouting and game planning, and managed all travel logistics.

Davis initially came to Hofstra with extensive coaching experience, particularly at the club volleyball level. Since 1991, Davis served as a head coach with the Laguna Beach Volleyball Club and helped lead seven teams to nationals. During his time with Laguna Beach, Davis coached more than 75 players who went on to receive scholarships at both the NCAA and NAIA levels. In addition to his coaching experience with Laguna Beach, Davis also worked as an assistant club director since 1999 with duties relating to overseeing the tryout process, lead clinician at all camps, working with the coaching staffs to ensure common guidelines are followed throughout, and assisting in the scheduling for national qualifiers and junior nationals.

Davis has also served as a head coach with the SCVA High Performance Global Challenge Team. He was responsible for all training, tryouts, and the evaluation of athletes in conjunction with the international competition in Pula, Croatia.

Davis also spent time coaching collegiately as well. During the 2012 season, he served as a volunteer assistant women’s volleyball coach at UC-Irvine and from 2008 to 2010 he was a volunteer assistant coach with the Concordia University Irvine women’s volleyball team. At both stops, he assisted the rest of the coaching staff with a multitude of tasks, including helping train the defense, scout opponents, and in-game analysis at UC-Irvine. During his time at Concordia, he worked with the setters and middle blockers and assisted in the development of the offense. Davis also helped recruit, schedule matches, assist with travel preparations and create scouting reports.

Davis is a 2012 graduate of Concordia University Irvine with a degree in psychology.
