David Gilroy is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Hofstra volleyball program.
In 2021, Hofstra would win 15 matches and advance to the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship. During his first season on staff, Gilroy helped Hofstra to a trio of wins during the COVID-shortened 2020 (spring 2021) campaign and Ana Martinovic earned All-CAA honors.
Gilroy joined the Pride after serving as an assistant coach with the Iona volleyball team since August 2019. He assisted the Gaels program in all facets, including improving the team’s blocking by nearly 15%. Gilroy produced opponent scouting reports as well as assisting with all recruiting efforts.
Gilroy has also worked as a coach with Club Ace Long Island since June 2017 and coached a wide-range of groups within the club, including the top team in Club 18 Black.
Gilroy attended the University of Delaware, where he graduated with a degree in management in 2018. While a student at Delaware he was the president of the club volleyball team, helping lead the team to its first-ever national title in 2017 and earning First Team All-American accolades that season. He was also a practice player for the NCAA Division I women’s volleyball program.
